Schenna: Meran’s sun terrace
The Apartment is situated in Schenna, a nice village up the hill just 10 minutes by car outside of Meran (Bz), South Tyrol, Italy.
You can reach the apartment with your car or by train to Meran and then with the bus to Schenna. Schenna offers restaurants, shopping, a beautiful castle and quick access to pretty hiking trails (e.g. Schenna Waalweg), mountain bike tracks as well as cable cars.
Shops: There are several mini markets, bakeries, pastry shops and restaurants within walking distance in Schenna. Larger supermarkets e.g. for groceries are available in Meran and the surrounding area.

The two cable car valley stations Taser (Schennaberg) and Verdins Tall (Hirzer hiking area) can be reached in approx. 5 to 10 minutes. You can alsostart hiking along the Waalwege directly at the apartment, e.g. up the local mountain Ifinger. The most impressive sights in Schenna include Schenna Castle, which towers mightily over the village, and the mausoleum, the tomb for Archduke Johann and his family made of red sandstone. Schenna Castle was built by Petermann von Schenna around 1350. The old parish church was built in the 13th century and has been rebuilt several times over the centuries.

Enjoy the historic town in summer and winter time.
You stay about 10 minutes by car / 5 km from the Merano 2000 ski and hiking area and 10 km from the Texel Group Nature Park. You could do sports first, then take a stroll in the beautiful old town of Merano, do some shopping at Laubengasse, eat an ice cream on the Passer and end the afternoon with relaxation and wellness in the Merano thermal baths. A fulfilling day – simply awesome!
Trauttmansdorff Castle with the Gardens of Trauttmansdorff Castle:
The gardens of Trauttmansdorff Castle are less than 5 km away from the appartment. They extend over an area of 12 hectares in the form of a natural amphitheater over a height difference of 100 meters. This opens up impressive perspectives on exotic garden landscapes as well as breathtaking views of the surrounding mountains and the spa town of Merano.
Bozen: you can reach the provincial capital Bozen in approximately 25 minutes by car. The most beautiful sights in Bolzano are located directly in the city center of the old town. The capital of South Tyrol is called Bolzano in Italian and has its own special flair. The main attraction is the Archaeological Museum, in which none other than Ötzi “lives”.
